An eyewitness claimed a ballot box was snatched by the Ondo State commissioner for works, escorted by mobile policemen in Akure-North Local Government yesterday.
Violence was recorded at Saturday’s local government election in Ondo State. Ballot boxes were snatched in some local government areas which resulted in injuries and damage of properties.
An eyewitness who was present at the voting venue, recounts how a ballot box was snatched by Ondo State Commissioner and police men beaten up.
He said: “Commissioner for works with an hilux and three cars went to hijack a ballot paper with box. They shot guns in the air, beat up Police officers who tried to save guard the ballot boxes“.
“Police was beating police. They used the under of a gun to beat a police officer who carried a ballot paper. At the Coalition center, they were doing ojoro. They were recording what they were not suppose to record for APC.“, He added.
Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his wife were seen casting their vote at the Local Government Election In Ondo yesterday.
“General feedback from around the state has been very encouraging with impressive turnout by our people for the exercise.“, Governor Rotimi said while giving a report.
Contrary to his claims, The turnout for the election was low, as the polling units had few persons turning out to vote.
