Some women were seen performing pallbearer duties at a funeral of an old woman who died at age 105 in Delta state.
The old woman which name have been withheld, died at the age 105. She was born in 1914. The funeral ceremony was held yesterday August 22nd, in Udheze, near Ughelli in Delta state.
Coincidentally, The year the woman was born, 1914, was when the first world war started and also the year that the Southern and the Northern protectorates were amalgamated to form the country called Nigeria.
What amused us at Gistvic, was the bearers of the corpse at the event, which were all women. Men are known to be Pallbearers. It seems the saying “What A Man Can Do, A Woman Can Do Better”, is almost right after all.
Example of male pallbearers are the Ghana dancing pallbearers who have become a popular tradition in West Africa especially in Ghana where funeral dancers are paid high fees for providing the dead with a lovely parting.
“She was a great woman“, One of the attendees of the funeral said.
