A Nigerian air force pilot flying officer OO Oke was videoed going solo — this has however spark reactions after the death of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile.
OO Oke has become the first female pilot to go solo on the L-39ZA in the history of 403 flying training school, Kano.
In the video posted on Twitter by @Jakepor21, Oke could be seen before and after she went solo on the jet trainer. She was soaked with water after successfully completing the solo flight which is inline with extant traditions.
“Una don dey show another female officer again abi. Let nothing happen to her o”, A twitter user said while reacting to the video.
This is coming months after, Nigerian First Female Combat Helicopter Pilot, Tolulope Arotile was confirmed dead after as a result of head injuries sustained from a road traffic accident at the Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna state.
However, three suspects involved in the accident that led to the death of Tolulope were arrested. The suspects were former classmates to Arotile, Channels TV reported.
“I am amazed at ur courage. Keep it up. May God Almighty always protect and be with u, amen. U are covered with the blood of Jesus Christ, amen.”, A twitter user wrote.
The video of the young pilot was also shared by the Nigerian Air Force in October 2019.
Oke, who is one of the 15 Student Pilots undergoing Basic Flying Training at the 403 Flying Training School (403 FTS) Kano, has successfully conducted her first solo flight on the L-39ZA Jet Trainer Aircraft. NAF wrote.
