Jimoh Aliu is dead.
After a brief illness, the Yoruba movie actor died at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti today, Thursday September 17th.
“End of an ERA…RIP chief jimoh Aliu..”, Bolaji Amusan popularly known as Mr Latin, confirmed the death of Jimoh Aliu in a post shared on Instagram.
Nollywood actor and producer, Kunle Afod also confirmed the news. “Just heard the news now..
Chief Jimoh Aliu died some mins ago. May his soul rest in peace.” He wrote on Instagram.
Chief Jimoh Aliu is a native of Okemesi Ekiti, in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the State. He was born on the 11th of November, 1939.’ in Ile-Obanla’s compound.
His father was Aliu Fakoya a muslim and Ifa priest who hailed from Asunlua Compound, Ijana Street, Okemesi Ekiti, While his mother is from Iloro Ekiti.
Jimoh Aliu developed interest in theartre and drama when a dramatist by name “Akin Ogungbe” came for showbiz in Okemesi in 1959.
Jimoh Aliu joined his group and travel with them in the old western region performing drama for 7 years, after which he graduated to form his own group called “Jimoh Aliu Concert Party” that have its base in Ikare Akoko, now in Ondo State, Nigeria.
Chief Jimoh Aliu perform for many Radio Stations across the country, and also for a Yoruba photo play magazine named “ATOKA”.
Also he performed for Television Stations like NTA, BCOS Ibadan, OSRC Akure and many more.
