Recall, on August 3, 2019 The journalist was arrested at his residence in Lagos and charged with treason, money laundering and “cyberstalking” for allegedly sharing false and insulting information about President Muhammadu Buhari after calling for a #RevolutionNow protest.
Today September 1, Sowore went on social media to share a detention photo of where he spent 27 days in solitary confinement.
He wrote on Twitter: “This time last year, I’d spent some 27 days in this detention cell in solitary confinement, lawless DSS obtained a 45-day detention order from a Federal Judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo claiming they were investigating me for “terrorism”.#Revolutionnow”
He added: ” Yes My lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN went back to the Federal High Court in Abuja asking them to review my unjust detention, the vacation judges did not budge until the ignoble regime and its goons manufactured new charges that were completely unrelated to terrorism. #RevolutionNow” Sowore said, ” A year later, our compatriots are tired, angry and moving together in resistance against tyranny! #RevolutionNow #Nogoingback”.
