Two police officers with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (LASD) were shot late Saturday in Compton, California. Reports confirmed the attack was a “straight ambush”.
“One male deputy and one female deputy were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. They are both currently undergoing surgery. The suspect is still at large.” The Los Angeles County Sheriff‘s Department reported.

Police say both officers sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition and are currently undergoing surgery. The shooter was identified by the male officer, who was conscious following the attack, as a “dark skinned male.”

Speaking to the press at 10pm Saturday, Sheriff Alex Villaneuva described the female officer as a 31-year-old mother of a six-year-old son. The male deputy is 24. “both deputies are out of surgery with multiple gun shot wounds & critical. This is now a growing trend of police being targeted in current climate. “, He added.
The sheriff described the shooting as part of the surging anti-police trend against the police nationwide, where felons are now opening fire on police officers unprovoked.
“LASD sources tell me both deputies were in their vehicle when they were both shot in the head and that this was a “straight ambush”. LASD working on suspect info.” FOX 11 Los Angeles reporter Bill Melugin confirmed the news.

“I have just been sent surveillance video of the shooting and can confirm it is 100% an ambush. Man slowly creeps up to the vehicle like he’s stalking it, fires shots through the window, then flees the scene. I will not post any of the video until given approval to do so.”
