Husband Chain Wife To A Pillar For 10 Hours In Ebonyi

A woman Ngozi Chukwuani was reportedly chained to a pillar for ten hours by her husband, identified as Uche in Ebonyi State. According to report, the husband who resides with the wife at No 1 Ike street in Abakaliki, the state capital reportedly fled with the key of the padlock. Some of the residents who spoke to our correspondent revealed that Uche hit his daughter’s head with the chain while she was trying to stop him from beating Mrs Chukwuani. Mrs Chukwuani was said to have been rescued by men of the Ekeaba Police division. The couple both hail from Enugu State. Three Sisters Drown In Ebonyi River

Three siblings in Ebonyi State have drowned in a river at Amaeze in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of the state. The three siblings whose names were withheld as at press time got drowned mysteriously on Saturday after they left home to the river but never returned alive. It was learnt that the three siblings were girls attending Comprehensive secondary school in Ishiagu and aged between 14-20 years. However, their bodies were found floating on the water while the circumstances surrounding their deaths remained unknown. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ivo Divisional Police Post, Mr. Nwornu Daniel who confirmed the incident said it was a case of sudden and unnatural death.

Man Jailed For Raping 17-year-old In Ebonyi

An Ebonyi Magistrate’s Court, in Abakaliki, on Tuesday remanded Desmond Eze, 25, in custody at the correctional centre over alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl. The accused, whose address was not provided, is standing trial before Magistrate Nnenna Onuoha, NAN reports. Onuoha said that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and so did not take the plea of the defendant; and also denied bail application made by the defence counsel. “This court lacks jurisdiction to entertain this matter. The accused should be remanded in the Abakaliki Correctional Service, while the case is referred to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice. “This matter is, therefore, adjourned till Dec. 18, for report of compliance, ‘’ Onuoha said.
