Suspected armed herdsmen harbouring in the forest boundary between Benue and Nasarawa States were arrested yesterday, 14 September 2020. President Buhari, on Wednesday, commissioned the newly established Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State. The construction of the college showed the determination of the administration to meet the operations and deployment needs of the Nigeria Police Force, The president said. Pregnant 14-year-old Anita Haledu Ibrahim Commits Suicide After Beaten Up By Her Father In Nasarawa

Anita Haledu Ibrahim, 14-year-old, has committed suicide after she was beaten by her father over pregnancy. The Nation reports that Anita who is a student of Government Science school Andaha near Akwanga, took herbicide to kill herself on Saturday, July 11. According to sources, Anita was impregnated by her boyfriend who she met in Andaha during the COVID-19 lockdown. They became intimate and she got pregnant. Anita informed him she was pregnant with their child and he initially fled the village to Abuja but after her parents made contacts with him, he accepted the pregnancy and also showed interest to marry her. Coronavirus: Nasarawa House of Assembly Member Adamu Suleiman Is Dead

Adamu Suleiman, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has died of COVID-19.  The state governor, Abdullahi Sule, who disclosed this, said Suleiman who represents Nasarawa Central in the state Assembly, died before the result of his test came back positive. He explained that after the COVID-19 status of the lawmaker was discovered, members of his family and those living in the house went into isolation and samples have been collected from them by NCDC officials for testing. According to the governor, the deceased lawmaker has since been buried according to Islamic rites without adherence to safety measures, as it wasn't clear at the time if he died of COVID-19. No Single Ventilator: Nasarawa Buys N500m Cars For Lawmakers (Photos)

Despite no single ventilator in the state, The Nasarawa State governor has reportedly bought 24 Toyota Hilux vehicles for state lawmakers, estimated at nearly N500 million. According to Daily Trust, the Speaker of Nasarawa House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi stated that Abdullahi gave the 24 Toyota Hilux to the lawmakers as official vehicles. At an average cost of N21m per car, they are worth a combined total of N504m. The car purchase comes amid a protest by Medical and Health Workers in the state. The health workers on Thursday, April 16, protested non-payment of their March salary by Doma local government. They threatened to embark on industrial action from Friday, if they are not paid.
