A 70-year-old man has reportedly been arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Chanchaga area of Minna, Niger State. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Sani Umar (Tela) allegedly raped the girl twice before giving her N80 to stay quiet about the incident. Men of the Niger state police command have arrested two men, Victor Okebugwu, 32, and James Amaonye, 33, for being in possession of 36 ATM cards suspected to have been stolen from members of the public. A statement from the police command spokesperson, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, says on June 5, police Intelligence Operatives on Bank surveillance in Minna, picked up both men when they found loitering within the premises of a Commercial Bank in a suspicious manner. A Councillor in Katcha Local government Area of Niger state has been declared wanted for stealing and disappearing with 30 bags of grains meant to be distributed as palliative to members of his constituency. The Councillor was said to be part of the Committee set up for the distribution of the grains to his community. The state COVID-19 Taskforce Chairman also explained that the 30 bags comprised of 10 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize, and 10 bags of millet was allocated each to all the 274 wards across the 25 Local Government councils by the state government.
