Alberto ‘Alpo’ Martinez, a former 55-year-old drug dealer has been shot dead in Harlem.

The shooting took place early Sunday morning. Alpo was hit multiple times in the chest, with shots coming from the vehicle passing by on West 147th Street near Frederick Douglass Blvd, around 3:20 am, Police said.

The EMS attempted to rush him to the Harlem Hospital, but Alpo did not make it. According to reports.

Alpo was a drug dealer from Harlem, New York City, with Puerto Rican heritage. In the mid-1980s, he became well-known.

He was released in 2015 after serving a 35-year sentence at ADX Florence, a federal supermax prison in Fremont County, Colorado, for 14 counts of murder.

After testifying against former associates, he was released and has since been placed under US witness protection.
