According to authorities, a 25-year-old Missouri woman is accused of locking four dogs in a hot car while she ate lunch in a central Florida restaurant.

Tesia White, a visitor from Gainesville, Missouri, was arrested for animal cruelty on Thursday evening, according to New Smyrna Beach police officers.

She left a 4-year-old Goldendoodle, 2-year-old Boxer, and two 12-week-old Goldendoodle puppies in her car while she went to lunch, according to a police complaint. According to the report, there was no air conditioning and the windows were rolled up.

White told detectives she checked on the dogs once during the lunch, but when she returned an hour later, she discovered them dead, according to police.

On Friday morning, she was still in the Volusia County Jail. The bail amount was set at $10,000.

On Florida’s Atlantic Coast, New Smyrna Beach is close to Daytona Beach.
