Munch means snack or food, “That [guy] a munch“. According to Pitchfork, Munch is a term for a loser, a hater, a fool, or a certified bozo.
In the lyrics, Spice was talking about a guy and how he thought she was feeling him. She used and dumped him.
Ice Spice most likely called Drake a munch when they were recently in Toronto, and he most likely responded, “Yeah, true.”
She also said something like;
"He mad as f**k I wont give him a chance But still he gon do what I say (do what I say) I swear I be stuck in my ways (stuck in my ways) But still he gon do what I say (do what I say) I swear I be stuck in my ways (stuck in my ways)".
[Chorus] You thought I was feelin' you? (Nah) That ni**a a munch Ni**a a eater, he ate it for lunch B*c*h, I'm a baddie, I get what I want, like You thought I was feelin’ you? (Nah, thought I was feelin' you?) That ni**a a munch Ni**a a eater, he ate it for lunch B*c*h, I'm a baddie, I get what I want, like (Get what I want like)
There have been several reactions from fans since the release of the song.
“Very few people seem to be understanding the subtext of this song. Munch is a reference to the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, most commonly known for his painting Scream. When she says “that [guy] a munch” she is referring to the painter’s well known mental breakdown in 1908, implying he is similarly not of sound mind. Similarly, when she says “you thought I was feeling you?” she is referencing the “feeling” that dictated Munch’s expressionist style that he called “soul painting.” Always look under the surface when you are dealing with a lyrical genius like Ice Spice.’ One said.
Another said; “Why is this kinda fire tho! Like i can’t drive thru the block playing this lol but I’ma definitely play it with my girl in the car”.
One also said; “Whoever does her production is a genius! The samples on previous songs that the producer goes well with her style. She reminds of Lil Tecca and Renni Rucci.”
Another also said; “Yo as long as she stay natural she winning. She doesn’t need none of that fake body stay natural and keep working set a trend that the game needs from females”.
