Trump Watched Capitol Attack on TV, Failed To Stop His Supporters
In an interview with CBS, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), vice head of the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurgency, stated the committee has “firsthand testimony” that former President Donald Trump was monitoring the attack on the Capitol from the White House.
Cheney said members of his staff, McCarthy, his daughter, Ivanka, were pleading with him to go on television to tell people to stop but he resisted the pleas.
Cheney also believes that Trump‘s re-election would be the end of democracy.

Last year during an interview, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy told CBS he has asked President Trump to talk to the nation and stop the chaos at the U.S. Capitol.
“I completely condemn the violence in the capitol,” He said. “What we’re currently watching unfold is un-American, I’m disappointed, am sad, this is not what a country should look like, this is not who we are, this is not the First Amendment. This has to stop and this has to stop now.”
