Hawkins married his wife, Alison, in 2005.

In an interview, the musician stated that he never envisioned marrying and having a child at the age of 25. The couple have three children (Oliver, 13, Annabelle, 12, and Everleigh, 7)

Hawkins rose to prominence as Alanis Morissette’s drummer on her Jagged Little Pill tour. Before joining Foo Fighters in 1997, he toured extensively with Alanis Morissette and Sass Jordan.
